Arthropod gene CpG and GC content

Distribution of CpG ratios(*) and GC content in protein coding genes of Arthropod species. Four species (Aphid, Apis, Nasonia and Daphnia) have both DNA cytosine-5 methyltransferase (DNMT) genes DNMT 1 and DNMT 3 (Daphnia DNMT 3b), the other species do not (Tribolium, Drosophila mel., Dros. pseudo. and Dros. wil).


(*) The CpG observed/expected ratio is computed as (observed CpG)/(expected CpG), where expected CpG is calculated as (GC content/2)^2.
