Dear arthropod genomicists, Find here an updated table of gene structure statistics (gene and exon sizes, counts, etc.) for 7 Arthropod genomes. Recent genomes included are Aphid, Daphnia, and Nasonia. Four of the species have stats based on EST-validated gene structures. http://insects.eugenes.org/arthropods/data/summaries/ arthropod-genestruc-table-dgg0901.rtf arthropod-genestruc-table-dgg0901.pdf with distribution plots in arthropod-genestruc-hist.pdf Notable stats: -- loss of 2 introns in dipterans and beetle, with corresponding exon size increases, for a rather constant coding length among arthropods. -- Daphnia has consistently small introns, others have a subset of large introns. -- Aphid has the largest gene span due to this subset of large introns. -- Aphid and Daphnia have somewhat smaller exons, comparable to the Worm. -- Wasp and Bee are fairly similar.
